Single Gloucester Cheese

Our Single Gloucester is a traditional English cheese made from the milk of Gloucester cows. Using time-honoured farmhouse methods, we produce this unpasteurised cheese with a recipe that reflects its local heritage.
It has a smooth yet slightly crumbly texture and a pale, creamy appearance. The flavour is mild and fresh, with gentle notes of milk, grass, and a clean, buttery finish. Made from a mix of skimmed and whole milk, it’s lighter than Double Gloucester but still rich in character.
Perfect on a cheeseboard or paired with apples, ale, or cider, our Single Gloucester captures the understated charm of traditional English cheese-making.
Our Single Gloucester cheese comes in 3 whole cheese sizes as well as cut slices. Our whole cheese sizes are approximately:
Whole cheese (3.3 kg)

Gloucester Cheese PDO
In 1994, Diana Smart along with one other Single Gloucester producer, gained  a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) for Gloucester cheese. This means that the cheese can only be produced in Gloucestershire from a herd with some Gloucester cattle.
